What happens once you’ve booked a block of writing coaching?
1) You will receive an email with a pre-coaching questionnaire that you can fill out and return to me. This will help me to get to know you, your goals, and your work better.
2) Be thinking of what you want us to focus on. This can change with each session but it’s good to have a plan. We could address:
Mindset
Productivity
Readability & Clarity
Structure, flow & pacing
Character arcs
Storyline, plot, and internal logic
Author platform
Publishing & promotion
…and much more!
3) Decide how you want to communicate. You’ll be sending any advanced work via email. I recommend you think about how long you want me to spend on this. Some writers like to have me work editorial assessment-style, with equal parts reading and feedback or even more reading, and some like to give me 15 to 30 minutes of reading, which we will discuss for 15 to 30 minutes. Chats can happen via Zoom or Phone.
Here is how sessions usually go:
In each session you will:
– Share any specific challenges you’re facing.
-Express how you feel you’re making progress.
I will:
-Answer your questions.
-Give you feedback, recommendations, and exercises as needed.
-Break down larger goals into smaller, manageable tasks for the next coaching session.
-Make you feel like you are moving forward and breaking through blocks.
